Shannon Nicholson has lived in Seminole County Florida her entire life and currently lives in Altamonte Springs. Shannon is a graduate of Bishop Moore High School and has a degree in Communication Disorders from The University of Central Florida. She is married with 3 children ages 3, 5, & 7. Living in Florida and having her children constantly around water made her realize the importance of learning to swim at an early age. Watching her own children learn to swim and wanting to make a difference in her community inspired her to become a Swim Life instructor.

After teaching Kindergarten and First Grade for many years, becoming a Swim Life instructor enabled her to blend her teaching experience with the care and gentleness that is so important in teaching young children lifesaving aquatic skills. Coupled with a kind heart and lots of patience, Shannon individualizes each lesson for the needs of the child.

Shannon will begin teaching this year in May in the Maitland/Altamonte Springs area in the afternoons. If you are able to get six or more children who need lessons, she will travel to your pool.

Cheryl Caballero has 16 years experience teaching survival swimming lessons and 13 years experience training survival swimming instructors, nationally and internationally.

She was an EMT for 10 years and when her 20 month old daughter's babysitter moved to a house with 7 entrances to a pool area, she immediately enrolled her in survival lessons. By her daughter's 2nd lesson Cheryl knew she was switching careers to make a difference in decreasing the drowning epidemic of young children around the globe. She's taught thousands of children and trained many new instructors across the United States and in Mexico.

Cheryl custom tailors lessons to the need of each individual student with a safe, gentle, and of course fun swimming experience.

Coach Ashley is a married mother of four young boys who lives in Orange County. As a native Floridian, she spent the majority of her childhood in the water and nearly drowned as a toddler after falling into her backyard pool. She briefly swam competitively for Longwood Aquatics and her two oldest sons now swim in the Patriot Aquatics summer swim league. Much of her free-time is spent with her family enjoying the numerous springs, rivers, lakes, and beaches Florida has to offer.

Ashley is passionate about teaching aquatic survival skills to children at every age and skill level. She is also committed to raising awareness about childhood drowning-prevention in a state where drowning is the leading cause of child mortality. Her personal experience as a toddler, coupled with watching her own children learn how to swim inspired her to seek certification with Swim Life. She has over 10 year of experience teaching and working with children both formally and informally. In her opinion, there are few things more rewarding than teaching. Knowing that the skills her students learn could potentially avert a tragedy is what motivates her to continue teaching and learning water safety techniques.

She is scheduling lessons in Apopka to begin April 1, 2013 and is willing to travel to your area for a group of 8 or more students.

Sue has been an instructor for 14 years and has trained other instructors throughout the United States. Promoting drowning prevention awareness and doing her part to educate her community, parents, and of course each child, is very rewarding to Sue. Living in Florida and having children of her own, she knows that aquatic skills are a necessity, not an option.

Sue is excited to be a part of Swim Life where her passion for instructing with a gentle, loving approach is utilized with children of all ages and skill levels.

Kelly Whittemore has 22 years of teaching experience and 20 years experience training other swim instructors. She has taught thousands of children to swim and has been a trainer and mentor for instructors of several other programs in the U.S. and Australia. She is currently Executive Director of Swim Life.

Kelly is passionate about teaching and learning. She teaches children of all ages as well as adults. She specializes in teaching those who have never swam before, and also provides individualized attention to those who are afraid of the water. She believes in lifelong learning and applies this to the teaching program for Swim Life.

Nicole resides in Melbourne, Florida with her husband and two children. She has worked for Brevard Public Schools for 9 years and enjoys the outdoors. She has a sincere passion to teach children of all ages to learn how to swim and know the proper water safety skills in and around the water.

In the Spring of 2011, Nicole tragically lost her three year old niece in a drowning accident and since then has wanted to make a difference and teach children how to swim successfully. She has relentlessly promoted water safety and organized a non-profit corporation in her niece's honor: The Jada Pepin Foundation.

Jordan Johnson grew up in Brevard County and currently lives in Titusville with her husband and 2 young daughters. She and her family enjoy spending their free time in the pool, at local area beaches, and boating. She knows first hand how important aquatic skills are for children of all ages!

Jordan's love of water activities and her passion for educating children motivated her to pursue certification as an Aquatic Education Specialist with Swim Life. She continually furthers her education and skills through in-water training sessions and mentoring opportunities. “Never stop learning” is a motto she lives by every day, and she inspires her students to do the same. Her goal is for each of her students to become underwater problem solvers in any aquatic environment. One of her greatest joys is seeing the self-confidence and love of aquatic activities gained by children as they progress through lessons. Her background in complementary therapies along with her personal experience as a mother gives Jordan a very holistic, nurturing approach to teaching.

After enrolling her own 2 young children (now adults) in private swimming lessons, Gail Casey was convinced that teaching children to swim happily and with confidence in their own backyard was her calling and passion. She has taught children and adults to swim for 17 years in Orange County, Florida using a gentle, slow paced, caring, and most of all - FUN approach to water skills they will have for life. She has also expanded this wonderful way of teaching by training others to teach as well.
