Born and raised in North Alabama, most of Coach Erin’s life has revolved around water. She began her competitive swimming career at age four and continued all the way through her four years of college at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, where she received her B.S. in Psychology. 

Growing up, her family could often be found boating on the Tennessee River or
swimming for fun at the local pool during the summer. She also worked as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim coach throughout both high school and college.

After graduating, Erin spent three summers in Wyoming working for a guest ranch and later worked as an au pair in both Italy and the U.K. After her time as an au pair, she moved to Charleston to pursue her Master’s degree in Intelligence and Security Studies at The Citadel. While there, she joined an unofficial underwater rugby team and continued to lap swim for fun. Erin graduated during Covid and moved to Surf City, NC to live with her now-husband, a Marine Corps aviator.

Shortly after getting married in 2023, Erin and her husband were stationed in Pensacola, FL where they welcomed their first son in January 2024. With water safety always on the top of their mind - especially with another baby on the way - they enrolled him in Swim Life lessons at 1.5 years old. Erin saw firsthand how much her son progressed in just a few weeks. Inspired by the experience, she began exploring opportunities with Swim Life.
After her daughter was born, Erin made the decision to pursue a Swim Life certification and began coaching in the summer of 2026. Erin is passionate about equipping children and parents with the skills they need to stay safe in and around water, while also fostering a lifelong love of swimming in the students she teaches.

When Erin is not in the pool, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, painting, and needlepointing.
