Lauren spent her entire childhood around pools as her father’s family’s company built and repaired commercial swimming pools. She participated in a swim team before high school, and her daughter was an avid swimmer for some time.
Lauren had a family friend lose their 3 year old little boy to an accidental drowning. When she attended his funeral, she knew she couldn’t let this happen to her children. She researched, and then found the Judah Brown Project where she learned about the importance of survival swimming lessons vs traditional lessons, and the dangers of using puddle jumpers and “floaties” in the pool. She immediately became a drowning prevention advocate on her personal Facebook page, helping to spread awareness. When she enrolled her son in Swim Life lessons and began practicing with him, she felt in her heart that teaching the Swim Life methodology was what she needed and wanted to do as a career.
The joy & gratification that comes with teaching young children the skills to potentially save themselves in an aquatic emergency is priceless. The demand for quality lessons is so high, and Lauren feels every child deserves a chance at survival in the event of an accident.
Lauren now teaches Swim Life lessons through Tri State Survival Swim; a name that reflects her mission to provide lessons in northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, and soon, in Indiana.
